Laboratory of Induced Seismicity
The laboratory was organized in 1986. From 1986 to 1994 the laboratory was headed by Prof.L.M.Plotnikova. Since 1994 the head is Dr.F.F.Ziyaudinov.
Main scientific direction of the laboratory: Study of induced seismicity at the regions of location of large hydro-technical structures and large gas-oil deposits; seismic microzoning of areas of water-reservoirs and neighboring territories; seismometric observations for dams to provide their seismic safety. Main results and achievements: Seismic microzoning of territories of water-reservoirs (Chadak, Chartak, Gissarak, Tupalang and others) was implemented;Comprehensive study of source zone of Gazli earthquakes was conducted and correlation of seismic regime with gas deposit operation was investigated;
Using data of automated system of seismometric observation dynamic properties of the Charvak Dam were studied and method of seismic influence prediction was developed;
Seismological, seismotectonic and engineering-geological studies were conducted on geodynamic fields, hydro-technical structures with the purpose of seismic hazard assessment of regions and large units;
Seismometric observations are being continued along the sides and at the bottom of canyon and on the dam-bodies of new-building and operating water-reservoirs (Tupalang, Gissarak, Charvak, Andijan).
